On July 27th, Yamnuska guide Alison Cardinal headed out with a father daughter duo on our 4-day Skoki Circuit. Little did they know at that time just what a great adventure it would be.
The team got to experience all that a Canadian Rockies summer can throw at you…plenty of sunshine, rain and yes…even snow! But it didn’t discourage this adventurous group. They crossed numerous passes and camped by stunning turquoise lakes all the while exploring nearby ridges and peaks.
On one occasion, Alison and Roy were admiring the beautiful waterfalls and if it weren’t for the keen eye of the daughter, they would have missed the large grizzly not far in the distance. Feeling lucky to have seen one grizzly, they couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw another large grizzly with cub in tow. A family of ptarmigans topped off the wildlife viewing.
As Alison told us on her return, ‘(what a) great family who were super keen – it’s not often the guide gets her dinner made for her by one of the guests. And the wildflowers – I think they were the best I’ve ever seen. And I do a lot of hiking!’
Thanks for a great trip.
