Bluerock Country – Spring Backpacking at its finest!

Hello everyone!

Its been a busy winter at Yamnuska between ice climbing, avalanche training and our ski touring trips but we never stop thinking about our summer hikes. With longer days and temperatures rising, the green is beginning to win out over the white in the Bow Valley and it is time to start thinking about summer adventures.

If you want to get out for an early season trekking trip in the Canadian Rockies to tune up those muscles for the upcoming summer, we have our Bluerock Country hike beginning in June. With the heavy snowpack still in the mountains, we picked this hike to run early in the summer as the front ranges are an excellent place to start the hiking season. Most of our other treks run July – September which gives the high altitude trails time to shed their snow, but the Bluerock is snow free in June and not a shred of beauty is spared. Bluerock is suitable for beginners but it’s also very popular with people who are planning a later season or more complex hike with us to get those leg and shoulder muscles in shape. Start the season off early with an incredible hike and be ready for any trail come the July – September Rockies hiking season.

Don’t forget, as with all of our Canadian Rockies trekking adventures we provide group gear and the famous Yamnuska meals prepared and dehydrated onsite in our kitchen.  You will also be traveling with certified backpacking guides who are not only knowledgeable about the area, but are also great companions to spend time in the mountains with! It looks like a busy season for us with many hikes already filling up and we are excited about what looks like an incredible summer. As always, call us if you have any questions and we’ll see you this summer!
