Fall is always a tentative season for most of us outdoorsy types. Not enough snow to ski or snowshoe, too cold to rock climb and hike, and conditions a bit too uncertain for any exciting mountaineering objectives. But the shoulder season does have a silver lining: The Banff Mountain Film and Book Festivals!
Yamnuska is once again a proud sponsor of the Banff Mountain Book Festival this year! This year’s events are already in full swing at the Banff Center all this week. You can find a detailed schedule at the festival website. Some of the highlights will be tonight’s “Radical Reels” film expose where adrenaline junkies can get their fix of high adventure watching some of the world’s coolest outdoor athletes! The “Snow Show” on Wednesday, Nov. 4th/09 will feature this year’s best winter mountain films. And don’t miss Thursday night’s evening program which includes guest speakers Chris Sharma and Mike Fay as well as the awards for this year’s book festival. Yamnuska will be presenting the award for best book – Mountain Exposition.
The festival runs through the Nov. 7th – 8th/09 weekend with special film screenings and guest speakers every night as well as a full line-up of films during the day. Visit our booth in the lobby of the Eric Harvey theater where we will be happy to discuss our upcoming winter programs.
