These trips have been specially selected for those who are looking for a more relaxed backpacking experience. With less distance travelled each day and shorter itineraries, we keep pack weights manageable and focus on easier to access, but still spectacular, areas of the Mountain Parks. In our packs, we have our personal clothing, sleeping bag, and mat plus a share of group food and camping gear.
Mount Robson Hike: Mount Robson, monarch of the Canadian Rockies, towers over Berg Lake and the extensive sub-alpine forests and tundra stretching to the northwest. It is the constant backdrop on this, our most relaxed backpacking trip.
Skoki Circuit: In the Canadian Rockies, not far to the east of Lake Louise lies vast alpine meadows linked by forested valleys and narrow passes. The Skoki region has been a favourite with mountain travellers to the Canadian Rockies for well over a century.
Walking Tours:
Our walking and hiking tours are great for guests looking for the same great scenery of Canada’s Mountain Parks, but who do not wish to carry heavy packs, or “rough it” in the wilderness. Most of these, our easiest hiking tours, are either backcountry lodge or hotel-based, so you are returning to the comfort of a warm room and comfy mattress after a great day of hiking on the area’s trails.
Lake O’Hara Hiking Tour: Lake O’Hara is a place where dreams are made. Its unmatched beauty is enhanced by the strictly protected fragile landscape and the abundance of wildlife that travels through it. This 4-day trip is suitable for all levels.
Golden Larch Valley Day Hike: High above the crystal-blue waters of Moraine Lake, the Larch Valley offers breathtaking views of the Valley of the Ten Peaks, Sentinel Pass, and Mt. Temple, especially when its golden larch trees briefly turn bright yellow each fall. This moderate 4.3 km hike gains 535 meters in elevation and combines stunning scenery with guided insights into the valley’s natural and cultural history.
